At Western Middle School, students at each grade level are divided into two equal teams. Each team is made up of four core teachers in English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Accelerated classes are available for students who are working above grade level.

We are committed to full inclusion for students receiving special education services. Support is provided through closely supervised study time, modified programs, and instructional assistance to help all students succeed.

 

Sixth and Seventh Grade

  • The school year is divided into four 9-week terms.

  • Students in sixth and seventh grade are required to take encore classes, including:

    • Family and Consumer Science

    • Art

    • Computer Applications

    • Physical Education/Health (two semesters)

  • Optional encore classes include:

    • Social Studies Extension

    • Language Arts Excel

    • Math Excel

    • Science Extension

  • Band, Choir, and Music Appreciation are also offered.

 

Eighth Grade

  • The school year is divided into four 9-week terms.

  • Students select their own encore classes.

  • Several encore options are available for high school credit, including:

    • Spanish

    • French

    • Algebra I

    • Preparing for College & Careers

    • Marching Band
